The usually observant and diligent fans of the Nokia brand in China have noticed that the official WeChat of Nokia Mobile was renamed to HMD Global. That change has raised some concerns regarding the visibility of the Nokia phones in that market and whether HMD Global will be replacing the brand with their own.

However, the whole situation was a bit overblown since nothing that serious has happened or will happen till the end of the licence. HMD has sent us a statement which reveals what happened, and here it goes:

The name has been updated to Nokia mobile. This was simply an error during the annual certification process which has been rectified.

So, a standard update issue, nothing else 😉
