Qualcomm announced new processors that should be featured in the future midrange and entry-level smartphone devices. The new line-up consists of some known series, but there is a new chipset in the game. The announced chips are Snapdragon® 778G Plus 5G, 695 5G, 480 Plus 5G, and 680 4G.

The SD778G Plus follows up the old SD780 but with boosted GPU and CPU performances that should help accelerate AI and increase photo and video performances.

Snapdragon 695 is a new processor that succeeded SD 690. This processor is built in a 6nm process, and it is going to support mmWave and sub-6GHz waves of 5G networks. Qualcomm is also giving a 15% increase in CPU performance and 30 % faster graphics when compared to the predecessor.

While 5G is a popular thing nowadays, there is still a demand for 4G only phones and Snapdragon 680 4G will be powering those devices. The processor is built in a 6nm process, just as SD695, and it is backed by Adreno 610 GPU. It supports Quick Charge™ 3.0 Technology.

Snapdragon 480 Plus 5G will be the leading chipset of entry-level smartphones. The new version of good performing SD480 that already powers, or will be powering 85 devices in total, is getting a boost in performances to better run entry-level devices. The boost is achieved by raising the clock speed from 2.0GHz to 2.2GHz. The processor is still built in an 8nm process and it supports Quick Charge™ 4+ just like SD778G Plus.

Snapdragon 480 Plus 5G is something that Nokia Mobile could be exploiting further even though all the Nokia fans would finally like to see a successor of Nokia 8.3 5G that could run 778G Plus processor, or something with SD 888, which wouldn’t be the best choice since that processor has some overheating issues. Nokia Mobile gave a statement in the official press release of Qualcomm saying that they will continue to innovate with the processors like Snapdragon 480 Plus, which means we’ll be seeing some more affordable 5G Nokia phones with slightly boosted performances.
